The Role

  • As an After Hours Clinical Specialist, you’ll be doing the important, meaningful work of managing crises and providing in-the-moment telephone support to clients with complex behavioral health issues, ensuring client safety, and connecting clients to high-quality, evidence-based providers.

  • This position does not involve providing clinical services or therapy, but instead focuses on supporting clients in connecting to care, exclusively by phone and email, focusing on evidence-based, brief interventions.

THIS IS AN AFTER HOURS, WEEKEND, AND HOLIDAY POSITION. Applicants interested in being considered for this role MUST consistently be able to work one or more of the following shifts*:

  • Monday through Friday:

  • 4:30pm PST to 11:30pm PST


  • 11:00pm PST to 6:00am PST

  • Weekends/Holidays:

  • 7:00am PST to 3:30pm PST

  • 3:00pm PST to 11:30pm PST

  • 11:00pm PST to 6:00am PST

  • Excellent at crisis management: you are comfortable working with clients with suicidality and can use a structured interview to assess for risk and do safety planning


  • Skillfully manage client crises after hours, providing brief risk assessment, safety planning, and de-escalation over the phone, with the goal of connecting the client to a therapist; caseload is exclusively members reaching out after-hours, weekend, and/or holiday for support

  • Independently manage a caseload of complex, multi-need clients

  • Effectively and professionally communicate with clients and HR managers throughout the process of accessing care, via email, phone, and occasionally text

  • Provide consultation to HR or benefits leaders around concerns about an employee’s mental health

  • Advise non-clinical after-hours staff related to issues of risk and safety

  • Creatively troubleshoot roadblocks to offering personalized, high quality clinical care for our clients

  • Complete client registrations and troubleshoot basic user technology issues

  • Use Lyra’s proprietary matching software to connect clients to the best providers based on each individual client’s specific needs and preferences

  • Additional duties as assigned


  • Master’s degree in clinical social work or equivalent; LCSW, LMFT, LPC, or equivalent independent clinical licensure (Not requiring supervision). We’re unable to provide supervised hours toward licensure.

  • Significant experience managing high-risk clinical situations (e.g., suicidality, mandated reporting)

  • Comfort in environments with constantly evolving responsibilities

  • Passion for connecting individuals with excellent care and able to provide short-term support over the phone and via email

  • Bilingual, Spanish-speaking candidates preferred

  • A letter of interest is required as part of the application
